Did you know that 4.7 Billion plastic brushes are manufactured annually in the world? With an unknown amount of these being tossed into landfill. We think this a shocking statistic, don’t you? If you do, read on to see how we are helping this plastic problem.
There are bamboo toothbrushes on the market that promote to be fully biodegradable, but they still have nylon bristles or other plastics. Some may even promote they are made up of nylon 4, but this has yet to be tested outside of laboratories for its effectiveness in actually degrading. (All plastic or other nylon bristles must be removed before composting.)
We want to be transparent, The bristles of our brush are a fusion of PBT (a thermo plastic that can be recycled) and charcoal fibres. Our bamboo handle is 100% biodegradable. Just remove the bristles then pop it on the compost heap when you’re done!
Our bristles are much thinner than nylon or others on the market, giving a far better reach. They collect and effectively remove bacteria from within the mouth helping to pull bacteria away from those hard to reach places and helping to whiten teeth and combat bad breath. Leading to a wonderful feeling of clean.
The bottom of our brushes are carefully hand painted with vegan and eco-friendly soy paint. (yay!) We put the paint there to stop any water damage to the wood from water that may be sitting at the bottom of your toothbrush cups and holders. – Aren’t we nice 😛
We recommend brushing with our Naturally Whitening Zero Waste Toothpaste for even better results.
Purchasing any of our products directly helps initiatives and charities and is a vote for sustainable materials, supporting an eco-friendly alternative. Brush at a 45-degree angle – angled up for top teeth and down for the bottom. Slowly brush the top and bottom portions in a circular motion on the front and back sides of each tooth. Move onto your chewing surfaces, hold it flat and brush back and forth. Gently massage the gums with the toothbrush to stimulate the gums and help to recover from and prevent gingivitis. Don’t forget to brush the roof of your mouth, the inside of your cheeks and your tongue to remove any remaining bacteria. It’s important to brush any area in the mouth that can harbour bacteria!
* Store your toothbrush upright, in a rack or cup, where it can dry out. As with all toothbrushes, we recommend replacing every 3 months and after having cold or flu-like symptoms.
